Cavern Collection is a Pakistani brand of handmade jewelry that seeks to highlight the symbiotic relationship between human beings and their natural environments. Meticulously created with clay,acrylic paint, ink and gemstones; these unique pieces feature original ink drawings of landscapes. Adornment of the body is an intimate experience. The materials used allow people to create contact between skin and earth, literally as well as symbolically through the message of reconnecting with the land.

Treating nature as sacred, nourishing and familial has historically been predominant in indigenous cultures. Cavern Collection is an ode to the popular metaphor of ‘mother nature’. The name is derived from my art practice, where I depict caves as a metaphor for the womb.

In the postmodern world, this relationship has been damaged through man’s colonization overnature. The disregard of this intimate relationship with nature has resulted in the drastic consequences of climate change and natural disasters. Pakistan is the fifth most vulnerable country to climate change according to the Global Climate Risk Index. Due to this, Cavern Collection seeks to create a strong culture of environmental consciousness within the local community.
